Jeff McElyea - Principal/Lead Consultant |
Jeff McElyea "grew up" in business the hard way. He started on the front lines, and worked his way up. Along the way he held positions in customer service, sales and marketing, accounting, as a front line supervisor, middle manager, and senior manager. He has participated in multiple task forces and turnaround teams.
Jeff has opened businesses from the ground up, helped convert businesses from one franchise to another and has been hired to close businesses that were not performing. He has been a part of very high performing operations, and has inherited operations performing so poorly that they defy description. He has worked in small businesses and in large ones, supervising staffs from 25 to 175 people. Jeff has had his hands in it all.
There is one common theme that runs through all of these experiences – a theme Jeff is very proud of; each and every business he has been a part of was in better condition when he left or got promoted than when he arrived.
In 1999, Jeff decided to open Lucid Business Strategies. Once Lucid was moving along nicely, he pursued his Master’s degree in Performance Improvement from the University of Michigan – Dearborn, which he received with “High Distinction.” Jeff was also chosen as the Top Honors Scholar in the class of 2003. Jeff’s never-ending thirst for learning led him to pursue his second Master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Eastern Michigan University. He will receive this degree in December 2010.
The successes Jeff has with client organizations has resulted in him publishing several articles about how to help small businesses be successful in publications such as The Performance Improvement Journal, ASTD Links, Business Matters, and Regional Connection. He has become a highly sought-after speaker on the topic of small businesses, speaking at more than 30 local, state, and national conferences.
Jeff has become a nationally recognized performance improvement expert, and is contributing to the performance improvement field as President of the International Society for Performance Improvement (Michigan Chapter). Jeff is a past board member of ASTD (Detroit Chapter), and is a member of multiple advisory boards and task forces on the topic of improving small business.
